The aim of this DokuWiki project is to show how my server is set up. Hopefully, if there are any problems in the future (i.e. server needs rebuilding) then the guides will be available here. Hopefully when finished, I will keep this up-to-date and it should be a very comprehensive guide. I also hope to upload files to aid in the connected devices to this server.

Welcome to HP Server!

The aim of this DokuWiki project is to show how my server is set up. Hopefully, if there are any problems in the future (i.e. server needs rebuilding) then the guides will be available here. Hopefully when finished, I will keep this up-to-date and it should be a very comprehensive guide. I also hope to upload files to aid in the connected devices to this server.

This guide is based on:


  • openSuSE 12.1
  • Apache Web Server (with PHP support)
    • Serving MediaWiki
    • Serving DokuWiki (Me!)
    • Serving Piwigo
    • A content management system/image server of some type, still to be decided
  • MySQL Database Sever
  • NTP time server
  • Samba server (Domain support to be implemented)
  • Asterisk VoIP server
