openSUSE Leap 42.1 is available from the following locations:

  • https://www.opensuse.org/, click 'Leap' then 'Install Leap'
    • 4.7GB DVD installation - this is the most common download option and needed for conventional installations. (Direct/Torrent)
    • Network installation - installs the system from an internet repository or network repository. Only use with hard-wired Ethernet machines! Wireless cards can be very hard to set up if at all possible. (Direct only)
  • If I have already downloaded an ISO, they are currently available at \\thinkserver\Build\CD Images\ via Samba/Windows File share.
  • These downloads are in the ISO format. They need burning to a CD/DVD, depending on which format you download. The image itself needs burning, not the image file. For more information, see Burning a CD/DVD image.
  • Distributions can also be put onto a USB Stick and make a bootable USB drive. This method completely wipes the stick and needs the computer to support booting from USB. However, this method makes the installation a lot faster than optical media. More info is available here.

NOTE: 32-bit builds are no longer available with this release. Only 64-bit is supported. Live CD's are also no longer available. If you require 32-bit or Live CD's you may have to use the Tumbleweed distribution.
