Obtaining openSUSE Tumbleweed

openSUSE Tumbleweed is available from the following locations:

  • http://www.opensuse.org/en and then click the 'Get it' button.
    • 4.7GB DVD installation - this is the most common download option and needed for conventional installations. (Direct/Torrent)
    • Live-CD - useful for testing the distribution and is also very handy for recovery too as there is no repair system anymore. (Direct/Torrent)
    • Network installation - installs the system from an internet repository or network repository. Only use with hard-wired Ethernet machines! Wireless cards can be very hard to set up if at all possible. (Direct only)
    • Rescure disc - Similar to a Live-CD, allows you to boot the system for recovery and includes some basic tools. Be warned, you will need to work on the recovery yourself, this won't just fix it for you! (Direct)
  • These downloads are in the ISO format. These need burning to a CD/DVD, depending on which format you download. The image itself needs burning, not the image file. For more information, see Burning a CD/DVD image.
